St George Utah 4th of July Celebration-2014


4th of July in St George Utah

Fourth of July at Vernon Worthen Park in St George Utah is an annual event and tradition for many residents! The park is located at 300 S 400 E St George Utah.  Festivities are being held this year on Friday, July 4th, 2014.

Start your day off with the Uncle Sam 5K run at 6:30 am.

There’s a home cooked breakfast provided by Staheli’s Catering (7:30am-10:00am) in the park –  The menu includes pancakes, eggs & hashbrowns.

This year’s parade, “It’s a Grand Ole Flag”  begins at 8:00 am.  Line the streets around Vernon Worthen Park to get a good view of this fun parade!  It is free to enter a float or group and prizes will be awarded.

City of St. George Independence Day Fun and Games Extravaganza! Bring the whole family for a fun day in the park. The Wizard of Oz-such a timeless classic for the whole family!

Archaeological Field Day-why not spend the day in Zion National Park?The Narrows at Zion National Park

  •  When: 9 AM, Thursday June 5th
  • Where: Zion National Park Human History Museum                                       
  • Cost: $45
  • Details: Spend a day in the field with a Zion archaeologist and get a feel for the daily comings and goings of this fascinating profession. We’ll start at 9 am and go until 3 or 4 pm. Bring lunch and lots of water and expect to hike, get dirty, and be tired by the end of the day. You might do site survey work, or cataloging, or any number of archaeological tasks. INSTRUCTOR: Member of Zion Archaeological staff.

  • Details:Field Institute treks are a great way to explore and learn about Zion. Join a field institute naturalist for an introduction to the geology, flora, fauna, and cultural history of Zion. Foray into the park with a naturalist to learn about how animals and plants survive during Zion’s intense summer season. Learn about how Zion Canyon was formed and the geological activity still taking place in the park. Bring your camera for photo opportunities. Interpretive hikes are the naturalist’s choice with each program a unique outdoor learning adventure. Destinations and trails vary. Limited to 11 participants.   • Details: A gathering for all automobile enthusiasts to display their vehicles, while checking out other vehicles! Get to know other car enthusiast from Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, and those visiting our area and wish to stop by. This is a regularly recurring car event, held on the 1st Saturday of each month.

There will be a lot of fun activities in St. George UT this May for the whole family. There’s too much to list in one article but I have included several of the top events. You’ll find activities ranging from golfing, dinosaur fun, 5K runs and more.

National Golf Month – Come play on any of the popular St. George UT golf courses and get huge discounts during the month of May.

  • Sunbrook
    $38 for 18 holes w/cart when using the City Cache Card (Reg. rate: $45)
    $55 for 18 holes w/cart without City Cache Card (Reg. rate: $70)
  • St. George Golf Club
    Wednesday Super Special: $30 for 18 holes w/cart
    $40 for 18 holes w/cart (Reg. rate: $47) all other days
    $35 for 18 holes w/cart after 1:00 p.m.
  • Southgate Golf Club
    $42 for 18 holes w/cart.

Dino Days in Dixie – This annual celebration helps us all to remember the discovery of the remarkable fossilized ecosystem that is preserved at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site. There was recently a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony to introduce the Dino Park are to the museum. The Dino Park area will allow for more hands-on activities for everyone, especially children. During the week of May 4 through May 10, there will be lots of free stuff to enjoy. The Market Reopens – The season for the Market is now upon us. The season is from May 10th to November 1st. Many regular vendors will be returning and new vendors are expected to join in. The season kicks off May 10th. Downtown Farmers Market at Ancestor Square is located at 2 W. St. George Blvd. inside the Square of Ancestor Square.

Information for those interested in selling:

  • Growers – Cost is $5 each week you sell.
  • Bakers – $10 each week you sell.
  • Artisans/Craftsman – $15 each week you sell.

The only additional charge is a one-time liability insurance cost of $25 for the year.

Iron County Children’s Justice Center Run for the Kids – This annual 5K and Quarter Marathon is back again with lots of fun events and activities to help support the Children’s Justice Center and their constant efforts to fight against child abuse. The non-profit organization is serves Beaver, Iron, Garfield and Kane Counties. Awards will be given at the end of the race with a grand prize of a Kindle Fire.
