Dickens Festival in St George UT December 2-5, 2015
The Dickens Festival in St George UT starts this Wednesday, December 2 and runs through Saturday, December 5, 2015. The holiday festival is Victorian era themed and focuses on the beloved story written by Charles Dickens', "A Christmas Carol". Guests will wind their way down narrow village streets, experiencing "Olde London Towne" as they shop for gifts and goodies. It's a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit!
Hours are 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily at the Dixie Center, 1835 S Convention Center Dr. in St George Utah. The contact phone number is 435-688-2990.
Regular admission price for the festival is $7 for adults, and $6 for seniors and $5 for children 4-12. Children 3 and under are free. There are usually several discount coupons floating around for the event, be sure to check our local newspaper, The Spectrum.
I always take a few minutes hours out of my schedule each year to run by and visit the festival myself! I'm never disappointed and always glad I made the time to wander through the "streets"! Lots of shoppes set up offering a variety of wares. All of of the shoppes are manned by artisans dressed in olde English attire and are decorated to match the theme of the festival. Arts, crafts, home items and gifts are some of the items available to purchase. The festival always has some unique items you can't find anywhere else that might be the perfect Christmas gift for that "hard to buy for" person on your list.
There's lots of food to eat offered at the Dickens Festival as well. You can choose from Mr. Bumble's Buns giant cinnamon rolls, crepes filled with ham, cheese and asparagus, authentic fish and chips and ethnic food to name a few. Of course there's also plenty of goodies like carmel apples at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate cart and funnel cake!
The Dickens Festival also offers entertainment such as theatrical performances of "Oliver Twist" and "Scrooge" each night as well as music presented by local schools and performers.
The Dickens Festival in a super way to kick off the Christmas season and for many families has become a tradition. Father Christmas is also available for a chat and photos that will be cherished for years to come. If you happen to be in southern Utah during the Festival be sure and stop by!
