For the last 12 years, Dixie Escalante Electric has sponsored it's Dixie Escalante Kite Festival. This event promotes reading as a habit for children and encourages families to enjoy physical activities together. For several months before the event children are given calendars to keep track of their reading each night.  The children are rewarded for their efforts on the day of the event by receiving either a high quality kite or a book.

The Dixie Escalante Kite Festival will be held on Saturday April 16, 2011 at the SunRiver St George Golf Course, 1404 SunRiver Parkway, St George UT. Festivities begin at 10:00 am and run until 9:00 pm. Admission to the event is free.  There will be lots of vendors offering a variety of foods and activities. A free concert will be at 8:00 pm by The Lawn Darts.
