Copper Rock Golf Course

Copper Rock Golf CourseRelocating to St. George? Maybe just exploring the area? Here’s a great little adventure if you like to golf, The Copper Rock Golf Course

Copper Rock Golf Course in Hurricane Utah is an adventurous 6,901-yard layout golf course. It has dunes and native sagebrush against a background of rustic sandstone formations. This golf course was designed by a team organized under Gordon Zitting. This gold course project took decades to bring to fruition. There are 18 holes, par 72.  The course was designed by a local architect named Dale Beddo. This course has several different course styles in its design. There are some flatter holes and some that leave you in awe and simultaneously test your golf game. There are plenty of hills and slopes to give you some interesting reads as you play. It opened in 2010, in the middle of the financial and real estate crisis, and then closed two years later. It then was redesigned and re-opened in February 2020, right before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Players are greeted with sweeping vistas on every hole that are offered by the Pine Valley Mountains, the Hurricane Cliffs, and Zion National Park behind.  Copper Rock is meticulously maintained and is in top playing condition despite the time of year or weather. There is the Copper Rock Grill, which is now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Golf carts are available and have GPS functionality that covers the entire course which can help you determine the distance to the pin. The goal with this was to tie in modern technology with the game of golf to enhance the golfer’s experience. This past April, Copper rock hosted the first professional women’s golf tournament in Southern Utah in decades. The Copper Rock championship was an event on the 2021 Symetra Tour, which is the official development tour of the LPGA.

The developers of Copper Rock anticipate hundreds of homes being built around Copper Rock, along with a resort and a hotel. The master plan for the community features 2,200 housing units that are approved to be nightly rentals. Many golfers in Southern Utah already discovered and love Copper Rock.  Golfers call this course tough and fair. There are lots of shots out there that are risk versus reward. There are also plenty of blind shots into the green or off the tee, which require accuracy and tough decision-making at times. The course is said to be what golf is really all about, a challenge that is satisfying.

Copper Rock is definitely here to stay in Southern Utah and it gives everyone who plays a chance to enjoy a quality golf experience.  Contact my office at any time for more information on future homes for sale at Copper Rock, current housing or more about the area.
