Spring Maintenance Tips for Your Home

Now that the sun is peeking out and plants are beginning to bloom, I have some spring maintenance tips for your home. This is a check list of important projects you should tend to around your home each spring.

Roofs – Check your roof each spring for winter storm damage. If you need repairs you should contact a licensed and insured roofer to make those repairs. If you need someone to inspect it for you, many roofers will offer a free roof inspection.

Gutters – Spring is a perfect time of year to clean out your gutters and downspouts from all the fallen fall and winter leaves. Getting your gutters ready for the spring and summer will help prevent water damage later.

Fences – During springs wet season fences tend to get loose from the soil. Therefore, you should check your fence in various places to make sure there are no loose areas. If you find loose areas, wait until the ground has dried out and then make repairs as needed.

Yard Debris – Look for dead trees, leaves, fallen trees and tree limbs. Clear out all fallen debris to help with curb appeal.

Swamp (Evaporation) Coolers – Weather you have a swamp cooler or an air conditioner, now is the time to have it inspected. With regular maintenance your unit will run more efficiently and save you money.

Smoke Detectors – If you haven’t already done so, replace the batteries in your smoke detectors with fresh ones and test the detectors operation.
