Baker’s Dozen Half Marathon, Relay & 5K in Hurricane UT

The Baker’s Dozen Half Marathon is back in Hurricane UT to have you in heaven with your next 5K. This half marathon is unique and fun for all that participate. It combines the best things of friends, running and sugar. Each runner can earn a huge medal just by eating a sweet treat each time they pass the Sugar Shack on the four loop course. The shack will be stocked with lots of sugary sweets including Twinkies, donuts, cupcakes and cookies.

The Baker’s Dozen Half Marathon is a fun social event that allows runners to race in a 3.25 loop course while they interact with other runners through the entire race. The loop will be run four time by runners who get to stop and enjoy the Sugar Shack’s sweet treats to earn their medals. 5K runners only get to run the loop once for a chance to earn one giant medal.

If you run the Baker’s Dozen Half Marathon you will get the incredible finisher’s medal. However, you have to earn it. You will have to run 13 miles and eat a sweet treat each time you loop at the Sugar Shack. There will be volunteers there to verify that you did in fact eat a sweet treat at each loop.

Don’t register if you don’t plan on eating some major calories during the race.

Tips to Train for a Half Marathon

  1. Start with a 16 week plan. Begin running 20 miles per week and increase that by two miles each week.
  2. Find a place to run that is similar to the half marathon course you are training for.
  3. Run daily to train for your half marathon
  4. Try hill training, this helps build stamina
  5. Cross training is a great benefit to prevent burnout
  6. Fuel your body
  7. Stay hydrated
  8. Get plenty of rest
  9. Have injuries seen about as quickly as possible
  10. Enjoy what you are doing
