New Camp in Southern Utah
There is a new camp coming to Southern Utah that is being developed for underprivileged children in and around the area. The camp is being created by Dawn Prendes, the widow of Sgt. Henry Prendes who always wanted to build a camp where underprivileged children in financially struggling homes could attend. A dedication ceremony will be Saturday on Bumblebee Rd, just halfway between Route 56 and exit 51 on I-15.
This camp will provide life-changing opportunities and experiences that underprivileged children don’t usually get. It will feature many activities such as horseback riding, a rope course, a green house, and there will be a petting zoo. The green house will help the children learn how to grow the food that they will consume and sell. They will also have an amphitheater where the kids can perform plays and skits.
While the project has not yet begun, there is already lots of excited talk around town for children in financially struggling homes. This camp will give them the opportunity to experience summer camp. The camp will be mostly centered around children; however, there will also be areas for special occasions such as weddings and family reunions as well as retreats.
Currently, the camp is in its fundraising days. The land has been bought but they still need to proceed with the actual structures of the camp. You can help out by donating to this good cause at www.herysplace.org. And, if you know any underprivileged children, let them know about the camp that is coming soon.
