Career Day at Dixie State University

Good news for high school seniors, Dixie State University in St. George, UT will be hosting its 36th annual Career Day on November 15, 2013. There will be several workshops to choose from in various classrooms at the DSU campus. The event will be open to all high school seniors in Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Dixie state students will also be allowed to attend the workshops and career fair.

Career Day is a free event that is open to the community. You will find valuable information at the event that is related to potential career choices. The event was created to help interested students make well informed choices about careers and college major decisions. Dixie State University staff and professors will be presenting information that will regard employment projections, job descriptions, training need for particular careers, education, and salary information.

There will be a full morning of events that will start at 9 am with a welcome assembly in the Avenna Center Cox Auditorium.  The welcome will feature keynote speaker Scott Warner who has had huge success in several career ventures from tech startups to blogging, to film and restaurants. He is now the CEO of the company Gigg.com, one of the top 10 startups in 2013.

Workshops will begin at 10:20 am and end at 12:10 pm and rotate in 30-minute sessions. Classes can be found in the Udvar-Hazy Business Building, the Snow Science Building, the Holland Centennial Commons, the Jennings Communication Building and the Browning Resource Center.

Workshops will include information on medical, cosmetology, retail, information, visual and computer technology, elementary and secondary education, broadcasting, military, law enforcement, construction, culinary arts, marketing, accounting, business, law and communication.

The Dixie State University Career Fair will take place along with the workshops. From 10 am to 1 pm you can visit exhibitors and academic departments at Dixie State University to get information about specific programs and job opportunities in the area.
