If you want to pick out a live tree without the process of searching through the woods and cutting down a tree yourself, Dixie National Forest is one step ahead with pre-cut tree selections available.

If you are looking to come to the forest and cut your own tree, all you have to do is purchase a small permit for $10-20 and take the family for a trip through the forest. Once you purchase your permit, you will be given a map with directions and instructions on which trees can be cut down. Most of the roads are unpaved so be prepared if it is wet out. What makes this a unique experience is the journey. You may go on an adventure in the woods searching for that perfect tree. It is a great active, family outing.
Stop by the Interagency Information Center in St George at 345 E. Riverside Drive where you can purchase the permits for tree cutting areas in St George and Cedar City, Utah.
Located in St George, Dixie National Forest Office offers a variety of trees already cut down for purchase. And the prices are great! For $10, you can buy a tree up to 10 feet.
