It’s that time of year again! I love it when Peach Days come around. This summer days are getting a little bit shorter and the night starts to cool off a little bit. Peach Days: A Celebration of our Heritage is happening August 29 through September 1, 2018. This is the 20th annual Peach Days. This small town celebration is amazing and is much loved for many around Hurricane and St. George. There will be food, entertainment, parades, contests, and more. It’s become the fifth largest event in the entire state of Utah, so you don’t want to miss it.
This is kind of like our County fair but even bigger. You can turn in were registered items such as arts, baked goods, garden produce and flowers and get ribbons and even cash prizes for some.
There is a small farm display, which is new this year. These little displays will be judged against each other and they have to be items you’ve actually farmed including fruits and vegetables, eggs, flowers, produce, and the like. It can be creatively displayed showcasing the large variety of items you grow.
Will also have a rodeo, which is moved from Saturday to Friday nights. Saturday night will have boxing to be held at Heritage Park. There will also be a 12 K fun run, peach cookoff, parade, eating contests, bingo, and the Pioneer Canal Trek will have entertainment and music, food and commercial booths, a carnival with bouncy houses and rides, and several other venues.
The events start off on Wednesday, August 29 for people to enter their home arts and fine arts displays and entries. Then everything kicks off Thursday, August 30 at 10:00 AM. There’s even a quilt can’t be getting it 10:00 AM. The displays will open and at 6 o’clock is eating contests, bingo at the lawn near the carnival, and then again on Friday, August 31 at 10 AM. Displays close at 10 PM.
On Saturday, September 1, the 12 K fun run meeting at the community center parking lot will start at 6:15 AM. There will be different hurricane Canal trail treks at 6:25 AM and 6:55 AM and then the parade will begin lining up by 9:00 AM. The peach cookoff is at 5:00 PM at the community center with bingo, concerts, and fireworks that evening.
This certainly is an event not to miss. So, will you be there? I certainly will
