Shop with a Cop in St. George UT

The Holiday Season is now upon us and that means it’s time for St. George, UT’s Shop with a Cop program to begin. Local St. George police officers and fire fighters are already gearing up for the big event.  The event is centered around helping underprivileged children in and around St. George, UT by providing them an allowance to shop with and a safe person to escort them.

The Shop with a Cop program will kick off Friday at 6 am in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Each child that comes will be connected with an officer or fire fighter. They will then be directed to a police car or fire truck. The children will ride in the vehicle in a procession with full sirens and lights. The procession will travel from Wal-Mart down Main Street to Canyon View High School.

The kids will stop at the school for a home cooked breakfast courtesy of the local Elk Lodge.  Once breakfast is finished, they will head back to the Wal-Mart in the police cars and fire trucks to do some much wanted and needed shopping.  Once the gifts are picked out, volunteers will wrap them, then the children will get to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.

For many volunteers this event is heart-warming for all persons involved. It helps impact children in a positive way for years to come. And, this event can’t happen without the help of the community. One of the biggest fundraiser events you can donate to to help make this event a success is Tip a Cop.

The Shop with a Cop event will start Friday and end on December 13, 2013. There will be four additional events for children to attend. As more event dates are released, I’ll keep you updated.
