Southern Utah is a great place for the outdoor enthusiast. Many people from around the world relocate to St. George, Utah and surrounding communities because of the endless, year-round, outdoor activities. Zion National Park is one of the top reasons outdoor enthusiasts look to buy real estate in Southern Utah. Zion is the oldest national park. The park is known for its incredible canyons like The Narrows where you will find nearly three million visitors per year from all around the world. Zion National Park is the most visited park in all of Utah due to the many facilities it has to offer the outdoor enthusiast.
There are four main sections to the park, which makes for plenty of new sites to see and adventures to take on. The Virgin River has created native sandstone with the most incredible scenery found in Zion Canyon. There are several self guiding trails along the river and more challenging hikes where the tributaries cut through narrow canyons. For families with small children who are in strollers and for those with wheelchairs, the Riverside Walk is the perfect place to start. For the more adventurous or strenuous hikes, it’s the Angels Landing and The Narrows Trails where you will find the perfect place to begin.
The park also has three campgrounds. Watchman and South Campgrounds are in the Canyon, and you can find Lava Point Campgrounds about an hour’s drive along the Kolob Terrace Road. Camping is allowed in designated sites but not in the parking lots or pullouts. The campgrounds of Zion National Parks are often full by early afternoon on weekends and holidays. Therefore, it is recommended that if you will be staying to camp that you check-in early. Through the months of June, July and August, you will find the campgrounds full each night. For those who want private campgrounds, you will find several a short distance from the park. For complete information about hiking Zion National Park visit www.zionnational-park.com.
