Red Cross Heroes Recognition Event – April 4, 2013
Description: The 2013 Red Cross Heroes Recognition Event will be held on Thursday April 4, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Gardner Center at Dixie State University 225 S. 700 E. St George, UT 84770. Nine Heroes from Southern Utah awards will be honored including Jeff Dial who will receive a Lifetime Achievement award for his contributions to the community.

I’ve Got the Music in Me – April 5th & 6th, 2013
Description: Schedule: Fri. & Sat. at 7pm with a Sat. 2pm Matinee. A Branson, MO styled show featuring music of the 1960’s and 70’s. This new hit musical production will take you back to the days of beach blankets to the BeeGees, the British Invasion and Motown. Collaborating with producer Rhett Thomas from Branson, MO, each show features a professional cast and are original to the Bumbleberry Theatre. Audiences will enjoy the high energy of this outta site journey of music, dance and the rockin’ harmonies of the day!

SHAC Spring Triathlon – April 6, 2013
Description: SWIM Beginner = 8 Lengths (200yds) Sprint = 16 Lengths (400yds) Kids Beginner = 2 Lengths (50 yds) Kids Sprint = 4 Lengths (100 yds) BIKE Beginner = 1 Loop (5 Miles) Sprint = 2 Loops (10 Miles) Kids Beginner = 1 Mile (1/2 out and back) Kids Sprint = = 2 Miles (1/2 out and back) RUN Beginner = 1 Loop (1.5 Miles) Sprint = 2 Loops (3 Miles) Kids Beginner = 1/2 Mile (.25 Miles out and .25 Miles back on same course) Kids Sprint = 3/4 Mile (.375 Miles out and .375 Miles back on same course)Swim Course: The swim will be in the SHAC indoor pool. The swim will take place in heats of approximately 20 racers. The Sprint Distance will start first at 7:00 am, followed by the beginner distance at 10am, and the kids distance at noon. The pool temperature will be between 81 – 84 degrees.rn rnBike Course: The bike course is an out and back loop course. From the pool you will turn right on Lava Flow Drive, left on 2000 North, and turn around at N Red Mountain Rd. The course is a 5 mile loop. One lap for beginner; two laps for sprint. The course is fairly flat with a couple hills. There will be officers holding up traffic at the main intersections, but it is an open road race so be aware of traffic. Helmets are required for participants. If you don’t have a helmet you won’t be allowed to race.rn rnRun Course: The running course is an out and back 1 and 1/2 mile loop. It will follow the bike path North of the pool and East of Lava Flow Drive. One lap for the beginner distance; two laps for the sprint distance. There will be aid stations at the transition area and the run turn around.rn rnRegister at the Recreation Center at 627-4560 or mail registration form to the Recreation Center at 285 S. 400 E, St. George, UT 84770. Mailed registration forms must be received by Wednesday, April 3, 2013.

Zion Geology – April 6, 2013
Description: Short hikes, an indoor visual presentation, and trailside lectures will highlight important geological concepts of Zion National Park. The workshop will focus on exploring the continual geologic processes at work in Zion. The group will get an up-close look at the effects of landslides and rock falls which still occur in the park. The role and power of water in the cutting and shaping of the canyon will also be revealed through a riverside hike. This is an excellent overview of the subject for the beginning to mid-level geologist.
