Swiss Days in Santa Clara Utah – 2015
The annual event of Swiss Days in Santa Clara is later this month and you don’t want to miss it if you’re in town! Santa Clara is a quiet little bedroom community located just west of St George Utah. In fact, unless you notice the sign, you won’t know when you’ve left St George and entered Santa Clara!
Swiss Days begins on Thursday September 24, 2015 and runs until Saturday September 26, 2015! The theme this year is “Spreading Our Branches from Strong Roots”. Saturday’s hours begin at 6:30 am with the 5K run and end at 4:00 pm. Admission is free. This is one hometown event that you won’t forget. It’s full of history, fun and activities for the whole family.
First started in 1990, Swiss Days is a tribute to the town’s pioneer heritage. Swiss members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first settled the area in 1861.
Some of the events include a 5K walk/run and a pancake breakfast for $3 per plate! The three day festival at Town Hall will also include food and merchandise vendors, continuous entertainment including a free Friday night concert, town and family heritage displays, pioneer craft demonstrations (Heritage Square), children’s activities, the Red Rock Car Show and more.
The annual Swiss Days parade begins at 9:30 am on Saturday and travels down Chapel St. eastward past Town Hall. Entries in the parade include handmade floats, antique cars and the Grand Marshall.
