Get out and burn some calories while having fun and experiencing the community pride of St. George. The St. George Annual Gobbler Run is a family-friendly event that will have you feeling a little less guilty about enjoying everything on the Thanksgiving table. You can earn your calories by burning some off beforehand.
The 8th Annual Gobbler Run is November 25th
The Gobbler Run is a young holiday tradition that has been going on for 7 years. This is the 8th season of the highly anticipated run. The run offers distances for the first-time runner to the seasoned pro. There is a kid’s run with a distance of 1k, as well as a 5k and 10k run. In addition to the runs, there will be family entertainment in the park including bounce houses and live music. It is the goal of those putting on the run to provide a family-friendly event that becomes an anticipated holiday family tradition for St. George residents.
This year the St. George Gobbler Run starts at 8 am, the event will open at 7 am for preparation. Prizes and awards will be given shortly after, giving plenty of time to head back home and cook your bird for an evening of family feasting. The run’s motto is “Hobble Now, Gobble Later.” Did you know that Thanksgiving Day is actually the most popular race day across America? Why not join in on the nationwide fun while helping to contribute and give back to a local charity?
The Gobbler Run will be raising funds to benefit The Dove House this year. For every dollar that is donated by runners, The Gobbler Team will match the donation with $1. Every single penny of donation money will go directly to The Dove Center. The Dove House is a safe temporary shelter for adults and their dependent children that are seeking refuge from household domestic violence. The shelter is a secure facility with around the clock staff that are trained advocates to ensure the highest level of safety and security for all who need to live in the Dove House. This is the only shelter of its kind offering 24-hour services in St. George.
