musicnotegraphicDo you love music? Then you won’t want to miss the performance of the BYU Young Ambassadors!  The group combines contemporary music and dance for a fast-paced showcase of American musical theatre. Selected through a extension process, these talented performers offer a refreshing insight of America’s culture and ways of life. The Young Ambassadors consists of 20 performers (10 women and men), and a 10 piece show band (guitar, drums, keyboard and bass).

The group is from Brigham Young University and they were founded by Janie Thompson. Since their first international performance at world exposition 970 in Osaka, Japan, they have performed all over the United States and 56 other nations. The Young Ambassadors audiences have included the king and queen of Jordan, the queen of Thailand, and prime minister of India. Live and televised appearances in major concert halls and performances in town squares, government palaces, hospitals and orphanages reach millions of people each year.

The Young Ambassadors are produced by the School of Music, in cooperation with the Department of Dance, at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. BYU is one of the nation’s largest private universities with an enrollment of more than 30,000 full-time students throughout the United States, as well as 120 foreign countries.

The Young Ambassadors have been directed by Randy Boothe since 1978.  Previously, Boothe was a director with Walt Disney Productions, Hawaii’s Polynesian Cultural Center, Showcase Hawaii, and the Polynesian Dance Ensemble.

The group will be performing at Dixie State College (Cox Performing Art Center), 325 South 700 East, on Saturday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  For concert schedule and to purchase tickets, visit the Dixie State website.
