True Grit Epic Mountain Bike Race – This race is not for the weary. It’s a tough race for mountain bikers. The first 20 miles is over very rocky and steep terrain, which requires skill and total body strength for handling a mountain bike in these conditions. It’s not a course for beginners. This race and course is most popular with riders of a hard tail 29er. Full suspension is the only thing that will get you through the Zen and Barren Cacti trails a bit easier; however, the harder trails are the Stucki Springs and Poppy trails. There are no swapping bikes so choose wisely before the race begins.
Nutrition will be provided the day of the race at aid stations based on sponsorship for the year. There will be a variety of real food and supplements. However, there may not be what you are used to, so you may want to bring your own nutritional supplements just in case.
There will be a post-race meal for participants. This is also provided by the sponsors. Post-race meals usually include both meat and vegetarian options. They start at 2:00 pm and end shortly after the last rider comes in.
