Ivins City New Medical School – Utah News
Great news, Ivins City Utah is getting a new medical school. This will be the second medical school in the entire state. Therefore, keep your eyes out for the Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine-Southern Utah. Ivins City new medical school is expected to open by August 2017. This is another great opportunity for Southern Utah. This new school will help improve recruiting prospective students to Southern Utah University and Dixie State University.
Ivins City new medical school is expected to have a positive effect on student’s that are in high school all over the southern parts of Utah. This will be a huge upgrade to the area. Now, between the University of Utah in Northern Utah and Ivins City new medical school, the entire state and surrounding states can benefit.
The new school will be located on the a 30-acre piece of land that surrounds the northeast corner of the intersection of Center Street and 200 East in Ivins City. Currently, Rocky Vista already has an aggressive schedule for the opening.
Construction will begin between February and March 2016. The school will be 100,000 square feet and hold up to 300 medical students in training. Students will spend the first two years in a class room then they will spend another two years in off campus regional hospitals and clinics on rotations. The final two years will be spent in residency programs that will be completed at the hospitals in the Rocky Mountain regions of Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Wyoming.
