Santa Clara, Utah is just a few minutes northwest of downtown St. George in Washington County and home to about 6800 residents. It’s been touted as one of the best places to live in the state for low crime rates, good education, and it’s high livability. Nestled at the base of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, Santa Clara is easily accessible along E. Old Hwy. 91 or Sunset Boulevard, which runs north and south from St. George to Shem/Scivwits. It’s home to several important sites such as the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, the Jacob Hamblin house, and the old Relief Society house built in 1907. Jacob Hamblin, was one of the first founders of Santa Clara discovered back in 1855 as Fort Santa Clara. This town is among the oldest in the area.
St. Clair has several schools but still operates under the Washington County school district. This includes the Law the Ridge intermediate school, the Arrowhead elementary school, and the Santa Clara elementary school. The Snow Canyon high school is located just outside the city border next to the Santa Clara city Park and Little League facilities. There’s an aquatic center, many churches, shops, restaurants, and markets all along Sunset Boulevard and the town is proficient in parks and recreational activities.
The mission of the parks and trail department is to preserve and enhance local lands and trails for visitors and citizens. There continually growing and expanding Park facilities and open spaces to support Santa Clara’s image of “A Beautiful Place to Live”.
