Swiss Days in Santa Clara Utah|September 23-28, 2013

The annual event of Swiss Days in Santa Clara is this week and you don’t want to miss it if you’re in town! Santa Clara is a quiet little bedroom community located just west of St George Utah. In fact, unless you notice the sign, you won’t know when you’ve left St George and entered Santa Clara!

Swiss Days began on Monday September 23, 2013 and runs the entire week!  Saturday’s hours begin at 6:30 am with the 5K run and end at 4:00 pm. Admission is free. This is one hometown event that you won’t forget. It’s full of history, fun and activities for the whole family.Santa Clara Utah

First started in 1990, Swiss Days is a tribute to the town’s pioneer heritage. Swiss members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first settled the area in 1861. Some of the events include a 5K walk/run and a pancake breakfast. The annual Swiss Days parade begins at 9:30 am at the Jacob Hamblin Home and travels down Santa Clara Drive. Entries in the parade include handmade floats, antique cars, the Grand Marshall and Harley Davidson motorcycles.  There’ll be the Red Rock Car Show at Canyon View park, dog agility demonstrations, food booths, pioneer craft demonstrations, continuous entertainment and heritage displays to name a few of the attractions.

Shuttle Bus & Parking:  Follow the signs to the parking lots and ride a shuttle bus, or walk to the events.  Parking will be limited. Parking maps are available online, at the Santa Clara Chevron and the Dutchman’s Sinclair gas station.

If you’re in St George Utah or southern Utah this weekend, be sure to stop by Santa Clara Swiss Days.  You won’t be disappointed!
