What is Swing Dancing?
Swing dancing originated in Harlem, New York in the 1920’s. The swing era was popular for decades into the 1950’s. It is a social form of group dancing typically to jazz music. What makes swing dancing so fun and popular are definitely the moves. You swing your hips from side to side to the music. There are several groups of dances that are classified as swing. Some you may be familiar with include the Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Lindy Charleston, and Shag dancing. In addition to the different types of swing dancing, there are also several forms of swing dance. For example, there is jive, rock and roll, modern jive, boogie, Carolina shag, and even East and West Coast swing. In other words, it’s a form of dance which has evolved over the years and remains a favorite! Ticket will sell fast, so grab yours soon!
