St. George’s First Full-Service Climbing Gym
Back in September Contact Climbing Gym broke ground on the first full-service climbing gym in St. George and construction progress is continuing to be made. Maybe you have seen the big silver metal framing going up recently.
The Contact Climbing Gym is expected to be 18,000 square feet with 12,000 square feet of roped climbing walls and even some 50-foot high climbing walls. There will be 3,000 square feet of bouldering walls that will be 14 feet high. The gym also plans to have a yoga and fitness class studio as well as an area for cardio and weight lifting equipment.
The owner of Contact Climbing Gym, Jeff Compas, wants the gym to be a place where people of all skill levels can come and enjoy rock climbing all year round. He hopes to attract professional climbers as well as students and even those who have never climbed at all. St. George is known for its amazing red rocks and rock climbing opportunities and now the residents of St. George will have a place to practice their love of rock climbing when the outdoor weather is less than ideal. Or a place to safely learn how to start climbing so they can get out and enjoy those red rocks.
Lululemon Pop Up Shop
Lululemon is a leading brand in fitness apparel and it has set up a temporary pop up shop at the Red Rock Commons strip mall. The store is now open and plans to be in St. George for an entire year through the spring of 2021. If the business does well and the residents of St. George show that they enjoy having the store in town they may plan to stay permanently.
