St George Winter Bird Festival
Southern Utah: home to beautiful weather year-round and mild winters which presents the perfect time for the St George Winter Bird Festival. Embrace all of the wildlife around our area during the season. The trees are absent of leaves which makes it very easy to see the species of birds. So much so, that we made it a whole festival! Over 375 bird species to view, native to the area.
What else is fun about this event?
A lot of things! Photo contests, presenters, fieldtrips, and a packed weekend of sight-seeing and nature-bound fun. The named spotlight bird this year is called a Phainopepla. It is a great way to get the whole family out in nature. It is fun, active, and cost-friendly. The field trips are listed on the website for the event where you can choose what time and what place works best for you. There are a lot of options like Zion National Park, Owl Prowl, Biking, Birds, Binoculars along the Virgin River, local bird walks, and options for state parks and reservoirs, just to name a few!
The presentations are set to be very interesting and informing, too. Some of the presentations on the schedule include Wintering Birds of Washington County, Introduction to Birding, Birds that Eat Birds, and the Owl Prowl which is a fieldtrip as well as a presentation. That is just to name a few. Be sure to grab your tickets so you don’t miss anything that peaks your interest. There is a lot to discover and learn over this weekend.
